Linda MacDonald and Jeanne Sarson are retired public health nurses who have spent the past 28 years as grassroot supporters of women who have survived non-State torture (NST), trafficking, and sexualized exploitation perpetrated within intimate relationships. As feminist human-right defenders and independent scholars/researchers, they have exposed the global invisibility of organized NST family-based crimes with many published works, including their just released book, “Women Unsilenced: Our Refusal To Let Torturer-Traffickers Win.” Their work, which began in 1993, includes ground-breaking insights into NST victimization-traumatization informed care, and as co-founders of Persons Against Non-State Torture (NST), they are contacted by predominately women in Canada, the US, UK, Western Europe, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand, who identify NST as a distinct human rights crime. They develop resources, offer educational presentations nationally and internationally, and since 2004 have participated in NGO panel presentations at the United Nations in New York, Geneva, and Vienna.
